DHL’s primary sorting center, located at the heart of Helsinki Airport, is a modern logistics center embedded with technology. The new building of 16,000 square meters is rented by logistics company DHL Express. The logistics center is the largest in the Express industry and the most modern one in Finland, serving as DHL Express’ primary logistics center across the country. The project has been executed in accordance with Pontos’ Guidelines for Sustainable Construction and designed to meet the requirements of the highest, Platinum-level LEED certification and energy efficiency class A.

The project was originally created in close collaboration with Pontos’ former portfolio company AVIA Real Estate. The company was responsible for the development of the project until January 2025, when Pontos acquired the project from the company as part of a larger ownership structure. The new logistics center was an opportunity to develop the infrastructure of the Greater Helsinki area in a way that would meet the increasing demand for fast and efficient deliveries, utilize modern technology and consider sustainable ways of operating. The automatic sorting system of the logistics center processes up to 6,500 packages every hour, and 90 direct loading spots enable shipments being directly transferred to delivery vehicles. One of the goals of the project from the very start has been to obtain the LEED Platinum certification and energy efficiency class A. The building utilizes geothermal heat and solar panels to support energy efficiency and reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
